Project Turnaround was founded as a non-profit public benefit corporation on April 4, 1984.

The specific purpose for which this corporation was organized was to research and develop social, intellectual, cultural programs and events for the young adult community with behavioral and social problems who would ultimately keep and perpetuate above programs within their own community.

Project Turnaround was based on the principle that when human beings shift their fundamental orientation in life, possibilities that transcend circumstances and limitations are available.

Project Turnaround's intention is to empower individuals to discover the opportunities available to them, so that they can create a future in alignment with their dreams and visions.

Project Turnaround hopes to bring forth a new orientation in the lives of individuals with special needs. An orientation that would:

• empower them
• uncover new possibilities
• bring forth a shift in the understanding of disabilities
• make an impact on society

The operating principle is that each individual, no matter their appearance and handicap:

• is a unique being with a spiritual kernal, who seeks to fulfill a task in life
• has an intrinsic capacity for growth
• has a potential that gives him/her a rightful place in society
